Errors & Omissions Insurance in Naples and Southwest Florida

When a client says your advice, work or missed deadline caused a loss, the details of your professional liability policy matter. PRK helps Naples and Southwest Florida service businesses review those details before a claim.

What to compare in your e&o coverage

Use these points to compare the protection, conditions and costs behind the quote.

Professional services insured

Make sure the policy description matches every service you perform. New specialties, subcontracted work and online services need discussion.

Alleged mistakes and omissions

Review claims alleging negligent advice, errors or failure to provide covered professional services. The allegation and policy definition matter.

Defense and settlement

Compare covered legal costs, settlement terms and the retention. Ask whether defense expenses reduce the amount available for damages.

Claims-made timing

Review when a claim must be made and reported, the retroactive date and continuity of cover. A new policy may not cover earlier work automatically.

Contracts and client requirements

Share indemnity, insurance and limit requirements before agreeing to them. Contractual promises can be broader than the available insurance.

Exclusions and related risks

Review exclusions for particular services, guarantees and known circumstances. Cyber and general liability may address different parts of the operation.

Before you choose a policy

Describe your work in the client’s terms

Explain the advice, deliverables and decisions clients rely on. Share a typical contract, the types of clients served and where services are delivered. A generic job title may not describe the full exposure.

Protect continuity when changing insurers

Before canceling a policy, review retroactive dates, known circumstances and any extended reporting options. Ask how completed work and claims reported after the policy ends would be treated. Notify the insurer according to the current policy’s terms.

What to have ready for your quote

Start with what you have. We can help identify any missing information.

  • Services, qualifications, client types and operating territory
  • Revenue by service and any subcontracted work
  • Sample contracts and client insurance requirements
  • Current declarations, retroactive date and prior coverage
  • Claims, known circumstances and renewal deadline

Questions before you buy

Is E&O the same as general liability?

No. E&O concerns covered professional-service allegations; general liability addresses different categories such as certain injury and property-damage claims.

Can coverage include work already completed?

That depends on the policy, retroactive date, prior knowledge and reporting terms. Review prior work explicitly rather than assuming it is included.

What does an extended reporting period do?

It can provide additional time to report qualifying claims under specified terms. It does not automatically extend coverage to new work; review the actual option with the insurer.

Let’s review your e&o insurance

Share your current coverage, what has changed and when you need protection. Our Naples team will help you understand the available next steps.

Coverage, availability and eligibility depend on the insurer and policy. A quote request does not bind coverage; confirm your effective date and policy terms with our team.
